Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body

Dynamic River Running with Rob Yates

Keeping you and your friends safe while out paddling is at the forefront of every paddlers mind, it is what makes the base for a great trip, a growing community and massive satisfaction of being able to engage with mother nature in a way few are lucky enough to do.

River Safety, however, is something which can turn into boringly regimented paddling or a laid back, “every paddler for themselves” affair or worse still the safety structure can be completely ignored by group members. All of these happen often and none of them are safe really. All too often we spend large amounts of time practicing rescues, yet fail to remember that a rescue is often the result of inappropriate safety systems being used.

Throughout this class International Kayak & Canoe Coach Rob Yates will offer you the latest in global practice for keeping you and your friends safe….. While getting that important 100% fun out of the river at the same time. Rob will give you the tools, skills and mindset that will equip you to rescue less, play more and dramatically improve your paddling at the same time.

During this ground breaking great fun class you will cover amongst other things;

  • Safety as a moving target
  • How to get more out of the river
  • Safety systems for peer paddling
  • Ensuring safety systems get stuck to by all
  • Simple rescues that work
  • Rescue prevention as a tool to safety
  • Carry less equipment with more impact
  • Observational focus

This class is suitable for class 2-3 paddlers in white water kayak, canoe and OC1
