The symposium featured in this video took place in Trinidad, California from March 3 to 5, 2017. The next UK event takes place next March 2018 in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The next USA event takes place March 8 to 10, 2019 in Trinidad, California.
Another paddle surf festival is upon us. My good friends and I are planning yet another amazing event out at Hobuck Beach near beautiful Neah Bay, WA on September 30th - October 1st. This is a chance for you to show off your paddle surfing skills with your fellow friends and athletes from around the world. Last April I had the opportunity to take a class through Active Sea Kayaking taught by Nick Castro and Rowan Gloag of The Hurricane Riders. This was an introductory class to the infamous Skookumchuck Rapids. As soon as I heard about the class I quickly persuaded 4 other friends into joining me in the class.
For the past year I have been taking training classes, pushing my limits on paddles, and practicing my navigation skills, all to what end? I was preparing myself for a BCU 4 Star Leadership Assessment. On Oct 13th 2012 myself and 4 others: Amanda Cantel, Don Cheyette, Rob Freelove, & Levi Hogan had our skills and leadership abilities tested over 2 days down at the mouth of the Columbia River during the first big winter storm of the season.
